Indian-origin British YouTuber Arun Rupesh Maini, widely recognized as Mrwhosetheboss, has set a new Guinness World Record by constructing the world’s largest iPhone. Standing an impressive 6.74 feet tall, this massive replica of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is not just a visual marvel but fully functional as well. Maini, renowned for his tech reviews, collaborated with Matthew Perks, also known as DIYPerks, to bring this colossal creation to life.

The giant iPhone, which took considerable effort and creativity to build, is equipped with an 88-inch OLED display, capable of sending texts, emails, running apps, and even taking photos. It also features a working lighting system and a charging port compatible with the world’s largest USB-C cable.

Describing the achievement, Maini told Guinness World Records, “Growing up, I would disappear into the library for hours to read the latest Guinness World Records books. To achieve an award myself feels absolutely surreal.” He added, “It feels like a full circle moment. I’m so proud of both our team and Matt for pulling off what’s never been done before.”

Building The Giant iPhone

The construction process involved transforming a large OLED TV into a touch-sensitive display and building a robust aluminum frame to house various phone components. Despite Apple’s closed-source iOS, the team managed to create a functional experience by using Android with a customized skin to mimic the iPhone interface. This allowed them to install apps like Flappy Bird, a feature unavailable on actual iPhones for nearly a decade.

Social Media Reactions

Since its debut, the video showcasing the creation has garnered over 2.5 million views and is trending on YouTube. The response from viewers has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the detailed craftsmanship and innovative approach. One commenter noted, “Arun did much more than just connect a phone to a bigger screen. His attention to detail won the Guinness Record. Kudos to the whole team!” Another user humorously added, “After 1000 years, archaeologists will find this and add it to the evidence of giant humans’ existence.”

Maini, who began his YouTube journey in 2011, has used this project to celebrate surpassing Apple’s official YouTube channel in subscribers. His collaboration with Perks, known for creating both oversized and miniature tech gadgets, has once again demonstrated their commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology and creativity. This record-setting creation not only highlights Maini’s dedication to his craft but also his ability to merge technology with entertainment in a way that continues to captivate and inspire audiences worldwide.
