Paytm has partnered with Perplexity AI to help users with real-time financial assistance. The payment gateway will be integrating the AI startup’s search engine to expand access to Paytm’s user base of 100 million active users in the country. 

Users will be able to ask finance-related questions and topics in their local language to make informed financial decisions. “This innovation enhances digital literacy and reinforces Paytm’s commitment to driving technological advancements for a smarter, AI-driven India,” stated a press release making the announcement.

“We are thrilled to partner with Paytm, a pioneer and innovator in India’s mobile payment revolution. Our AI- powered search technology will help bring real-time, trusted answers to millions, enabling them to make informed decisions effortlessly. This collaboration is a step towards a future where AI enhances everyday interactions and digital experiences for all,” Aravind Srinivas, CEO and co-founder of the firm said.

“With Perplexity, we are bringing the power of AI to millions of Indian consumers, making knowledge and financial services more seamless and accessible,” Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder and CEO of Paytm noted.

Separately, it was reported yesterday that Perplexity AI is raising a $50 million venture fund for early-stage AI startups. They also raised $500 million in funding at a $9 billion valuation.
