Apple could be introducing the iPhone 17 Air as the new addition to their smartphone lineup, according to the latest newsletter by tech reporter Mark Gurman.

Expected to launch later in the year, Apple could name the potential new iPhone as Air, emphasising on its ultra-thin build.

However, Apple is yet to formally confirm or deny reports of the new phone.

The hardware company already calls their thinnest MacBooks and iPads with the same name.

Gurman noted that the iPhone 17 Air could be “about 2 millimetres thinner” than the standard iPhone. It will also be a “testing ground for future technologies” he said explaining that Apple could be working towards foldable iPhones and iPads in the future.

It will also be using an in-house modem which is expected to debut along with the iPhone SE in the first-half of this year. Their new iPhone lineup will also include WiFi/ Bluetooth chips designed by the company.

Gurman also noted down other Apple products that will be launched in 2025 like their new smart home hub.
