Google has expanded NotebookLM’s AI Overviews features to Hindi and over 50 other languages. Users can now generate Audio Overviews, which generates a podcast discussion between two hosts from a research topic of their choice.

Users can simply choose the language they want from a new “Output Language” option which now shows up on the top-right hand side of the screen.

Users can also change the language at any point so the content can be multilingual too.

“For example, a teacher preparing a lesson on the Amazon rainforest can share resources in various languages — like a Portuguese documentary, a Spanish research paper and English study reports — with their students. The students can upload these and can generate an Audio Overview of key insights in their preferred language. This capability breaks down language barriers and makes the information more accessible to everyone,” Google noted in a blog post.

Launched last year, the tool has been introduced to the Gemini AI chatbot and Google Docs so users can convert any written notes into AI podcasts.

The company also said that they will continue to work on refining the tool’s features.
