Apple breaks into top five smartphone brands in India, Vivo continues to lead

Apple breaks into top five smartphone brands in India

Vivo has emerged as the leading smartphone brand with 20% market share in the first half of 2025, while Apple, for the first time, entered in top five smartphone brands in India with 9.7% share and became the fastest-growing brand with nearly 35% year-over-year (YoY) growth.

However, India’s smartphone market grew only 2% YoY in 1H25. In this phase, 60 million units were shipped, noted IDC.

Samsung lost around 2.5% share in the first half of the year 2025, yet it managed to secure number two spot in the leader board with nearly 15% market share.

Oppo registered 21% YoY growth and came third with a 12.3% market share. Realme lost 2.3% market and came fourth with over 10% share.

Region wise, North India led this growth with 33% share followed by Southern states which grew fastest. Tier-4 cities like Mysore and Shimla saw strong double-digit gains.

The premium segment ₹50K+ phones drove growth while ₹10K–₹20K dominated volumes.
